Micro-Current Therapy, clinically known as MENS (Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation), delivers ultra-low electrical current measured in microamperes, roughly a thousand times weaker than the milliamp current used in EMS or TENS devices. Because the current is below the threshold of sensory perception, most members feel nothing at all during a session; the work happens at the cellular level, not the muscle-contraction level.
Sessions run 20–30 minutes with pads placed around the area of interest, recovering tissue, a stubborn joint, a slow-healing wound, or a region of nerve discomfort. Where stronger currents work the muscle, microcurrent is designed to support the cell: studies associate it with increased ATP production, improved amino acid transport, and modulation of inflammatory and pain signaling.

- Sub-sensory by design. Microcurrent runs in microamperes, typically 20–500 µA, well below the threshold of nerve firing or muscle contraction. The body doesn't "feel" the input, so the nervous system doesn't guard against it the way it might with stronger stimulation.
- Cellular-level support. Foundational laboratory work found microcurrent at MENS-range intensities increased ATP concentration in skin tissue several-fold, alongside improved amino acid uptake and protein synthesis, the building blocks of repair. - A pain-modulation tool with a long clinical history. A 2025 narrative review describes microcurrent's use for musculoskeletal pain and post-surgical recovery, while a separate 2025 meta-analysis of transcutaneous electrical neuromuscular stimulation found a modest overall effect on neuropathic pain, with the clearest benefit in spinal-cord-injury pain. Results vary by person and protocol, and microcurrent is positioned as a supportive adjunct, not a stand-alone treatment.
